A total of 157 major European companies, investors and business networks have called on European leaders to support the ambition set out in the European Green Pact and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030.
Just one day before European Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen delivers her annual State of the Union speech, more than 150 major companies, investors and business networks have called for in an open letter EU leaders to back the ambition set out in the European Green Pact and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030.
The signatories of the letter need to urgently see "an ambitious implementation of the recovery package focused on achieving a green and digital transition, with the European Green Deal at its core and a high near-term emissions reduction target in sight." This initiative is being led by the European Corporate Leaders Group (CLG Europe)a cross-sector group of European companies working to achieve climate neutrality. It aims to address the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic and lay the foundations for a more climate-resilient economic recovery. In Spain, it was supported by the Spanish Green Growth Group and the signature of Spanish companies such as Acciona, Ferrovial, Iberdrola and Teimas, among others.
