Eurostat publishes figures on EU waste exports in 2022. We share in this article the most outstanding data.
During 2022, EU countries exported 32.1 million tons of waste to third countries. Although this is not a minor figure, it represents a 3% decrease compared to the 2021 data.
To put this data in context, according to annual information on waste trade published by Eurostat, waste imports from non-EU countries were 18.7 million tons, down 5% from the previous year.
